Department of Marine and Coastal Resources has surveyed and monitored the status of seagrass resources both in the area that is the current seagrass source, The source where the survey was reported was found and new sources in addition to those previously discovered Although it is not a large source. In 2021, the report found that seagrass covers a total area of 99,325 rai, representing 62% of the country's potential as a source of seagrass (160,628 rai) covering 17 coastal provinces. Comprising 11 provinces in the Gulf of Thailand, namely Trat Province, Chanthaburi Province, Rayong Province, Chonburi Province Prachuap Khiri Khan Province Chumphon Province Surat Thani Province Nakhon Si Thammarat Province Songkhla Province Pattani Province and Narathiwat Province and the Andaman side, 6 provinces, namely Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket Krabi, Trang and Satun provinces.
Seagrass resources as a whole of Thailand found that the seagrass were in good - very good condition, 28%, moderately fertile, 52%, and slightly fertile, 20%. Most of the seagrass areas were not very large by the status of seagrass resources per province

A study of aquatic animal communities in seagrass resources in 10 provinces, namely Trat Province, Chanthaburi Province, Rayong Province, Chonburi Province, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, Ratthani Province, Pattani Province, Krabi Province, Trang and Satun provinces found that fish were the group with the highest species diversity. The species that are found regularly and abundantly are : Monacanthus chinensis fish, Pelates quadrilineatus fish, Siganus canaliculatus fish, Halichoeres bicolor fish and Strombus canarium shellfish. Most of the aquatic animals found are in the immature stage. The size of the fish caught varies from group to group. This can indicate the importance of seagrass resources in terms of being a nursery and the habitat of young aquatic animals and the pre-reproductive period
