DMCR with the Network to Help Marine Animals Stranded at Laem Kum Beach, Prachuap Khiri Khan

On November 8th, 2022, Marine Resources Research Center and the Upper Gulf of Thailand West Coast, Was informed by the villagers in Laem Kum Beach area, Prachuap Khiri Khan province that sea creatures, Were found beached at Laem Kum Beach, Na Hu Kwang Sub-district, Thap Sakae District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

The officers, therefore, coordinated the Marine and Coastal Resources Office 3, the Department of Fisheries officers, and marine protection volunteers to go to the inspection area together from the investigation, it was found White Spotted wedgefish (Rhynchobatus australiae), classified by cartilaginous fish specialists, Department of Fisheries, as follows: female, adult, 1.5 meters long, about 20 kilograms in weight.


The officers joined together to help the White Spotted wedgefish from the initial assessment. The white spotted wedgefish is in good physical condition. Therefore hurriedly released back to nature as soon as possible. In this regard, the volunteers in the area have been asked to protect the seas to help watch out for strandings.
