Intercept The Group of Fish Smugglers in the Coral Reef Before the Incident

On October 10th, 2022, the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, by the Office of Marine and Coastal Resources No.4 (Surat Thani), was informed by an anonymous that a tourist had been shooting fish in a coral reef area. Therefore sent unit to manage the marine and coastal resources protection area of ​​Koh Tao, Surat Thani Province together with the government village leader Koh Tao Subdistrict municipality checks as notified in the area of ​​Ao Sam (Koh Nang Yuan), Koh Tao sub-district, Koh Phangan district. Surat Thani Province found a tourist boat that looks like a sailboat. There are 2 tourists (1 foreigner, 1 Thai).

When the ship was searched, tools were found (a gun for shooting fish) but no offense has been found advise tourists to refrain from fishing in the form of shooting fish in coral reefs because it will affect and damage coral reefs in addition to the area as a tourist attraction, diving may be dangerous to tourists of tools (guns for shooting fish) administrative officials seized then publicized regarding the exploitation of the coral reef tourist area including the correct use of mooring buoys that do not affect coral reefs to the tour boat operator and tourists in the area.
