Meeting to Propose Draft Ministerial Regulation Defining Mangrove Forest Conservation Areas

On Wednesday, 17th November, 2021 at 10.30 am at the Department of Fisheries, the Inspector General of the Department chaired a meeting to discuss the implementation of the draft ministerial regulation defining mangrove forest conservation areas, Through the meeting system Zoom Cloud Meetings to discuss the implementation of the draft ministerial regulation defining mangrove forest conservation areas together with representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

Whereas Section 18 of the Marine and Coastal Resources Management Promotion Act, B.E. 2558 (2015) states that the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment with the approval of National Marine and Coastal Resources Management Service Policy and Plan Committee Has the power to issue ministerial regulations prescribing mangrove forest conservation areas For the purpose of preserving, protecting, conserving and rehabilitating mangrove forest areas in Chonburi, Phetchaburi, Surat Thani, Ranong and Pattani provinces.


The Department of Fisheries has proposed to consider reviewing the said ministerial regulation. To solve the problem of overlapping areas with aquaculture areas according to the provincial fisheries committee announcement Establishment of aquaculture zones for regulated aquaculture operations to ensure consistency and validity in accordance with the legal framework of both agencies.
