Report of the Autopsy Results of Sea Turtles at the Beach of Khwaeng Phao Nakhon Si Thammarat

On November 7th, 2022, the Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center, Lower Gulf of Thailand, conducted an autopsy of sea turtles. After being notified on November 6, 2022, via the Forest Protection Hotline 1362. Carcasses of sea turtles were found beached at the beach of Phao Village No. 2, Thong Nien Sub-district, Khanom District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Therefore, the network in the area has been coordinated to move to the central temple for preservation.

After the examination was found that it was a female Chelonia mydas turtle, aged 20-30 years, carapace length of 84.5 cm, a width of 72 cm, rot condition bruises were found on the chest and base around the base of the forelegs and legs, ropes were found in the esophagus and stomach was found full of seaweed food stay most organs decay, The cause of death is suspected of being caught in fishing gear.
