The Marine Department held a meeting to monitor rare marine animals and marine mammals

On 2th July, 2021, the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DTC) organized the meeting of the Subcommittee on Prevention and Solution to Problems of Fisheries Impacts on Rare Marine Animals and Marine Mammals No. 1/2021, with Mr. Sophon Thongdee, Director-General of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (NTC) was the chairman. Mr. Apichai Ekwanakul, Deputy Director-General, Ms. Pornsri Suttanarak, Deputy Director-General, along with executives and sub-committee as well as representatives from relevant agencies Attended the meeting via VDO Conference system at Lam Pan Conference Room, 9 floor, Department of the NBTC.


The meeting considered (drafted) an order appointing a working group to provide information on marine mammal status for reporting in the system International Affairs Information Capture and Reporting System (IAICRS) (draft) Marine Mammal Conservation Measures in Thailand (draft) Report on the status of marine mammals in Thailand 2017–2020 with joint data preparation between the Department of Fisheries and the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources in the study of fisheries source areas and marine mammal habitats of Thailand This includes offering the northern Andaman Sea as a protected area for rare marine life and marine mammals.
