DMCR Visits Na Dan Beach Area Nakhon Si Thammarat Province Rare Sea Creatures Found Beached

On February 5th, 2023, by Rare Marine Animal Group staff Central Gulf of Thailand Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center, Was notified by a monk who is a network of rare marine animals, Khanom District.

On February 4th, 2023, around 10:30 p.m., villagers in the area found the carcass of dolphins beached at Na Dan Beach, Village No. 6, Khanom Subdistrict, Khanom District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. and moved to keep it at the middle temple Officers examined and found that it was a female Neophocaena phocaenoides dolphin, 98 cm long, in its infancy, weighing about 10-15 kg. The carcass was fresh, and no external wounds were found The condition was intact Lymph nodes in the scapula and edge of the lungs were found in the autopsy, enlarged, swollen, and necrotic, The liver was pale and uneven in color, Air bubbles were found in the trachea on both sides of the lungs, suggesting that the dolphin was aspirated before death.

Traces of movement of worms were found on both lung surfaces, pus with threadworms was found in both lungs, and necrosis and fibrosis were found in the lungs, a hole in the distal esophagus was found, and in the anterior and main stomach, and there is bleeding in the main stomach Found cysts obstruction in the distal stomach, The cause of death was assumed to be due to illness and separation from the mother.
