On Wednesday, July 19th, 2023, from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Representatives of the TSFR working group and MarinTrust assessors, namely Ms. Nicola Clark and Ms. Emily McGregor, visited the process of trawl fishing, inspection, and movement of aquatic animals from fishing trawlers to fishmeal factories in Samut Sakhon Province.
On that day, the working group receive cooperation from Pair Trawl fishermen and officials of the Department of Fisheries, Port in-Port out (PIPO) Vessel Inspectors, and Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Center staff welcomed representatives from TSFR and MarinTrust assessors to see fish from trawl-type fishing vessels including steps and inspection processes such as sharing information from the inspection process of fishermen recording of fishermen identification of the crew fishing vessels, information storage fishing vessels, information notification system, etc.
and listened to a lecture from the delegation of labor and fishing vessel inspectors at the Fisheries Checkpoint Management Service Center Region 5 office (Samut Sakhon province) presented the fishing control process in Thailand for example, procedures and systems for inspecting vessels arriving and departing recorded the number of aquatic animals, obtained by type from each fishing cycle, as well as in the event of an offender penalty to be received and answer questions to clarify doubts for representatives from the MarinTrust assessors.
