The meeting of the National Fisheries Policy Committee

On Friday, September 30th, 2022, at the Government House meeting room Director-General of the Department of Fisheries participated in the meeting of the National Fisheries Policy Committee No.4/2022 with the Deputy Prime Minister chairing the meeting and the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Fisheries and working groups attended the meeting via the online remote system, Zoom Cloud meeting program at the Department of Fisheries.

This meeting has considered and approved 3 important measures which are measures to increase the effectiveness of reporting targets for inspection and prosecution of suspected vessels by the Fishery Monitoring Center (FMC). The committee measures the enforcement of agencies involved in illegal fishing and the committee's measures on the Guidelines for Withdrawing the list of fishing vessels from the Illegal Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (IUU) list.

In addition, the meeting acknowledged the progress of various actions, including the implementation of fisheries measures in Thailand to be free from IUU fisheries, which the Department of Fisheries has increased its knowledge and increased the potential of the staff working in all areas. Levels continue to come, framing studies on the use of foam or fishery materials that may cause microplastics, Results of the bilateral meeting between Thailand and the European Union which the European Union continues to support Thailand in anti-IUU fishing and Thai fisheries management in various dimensions according to science and international principles, driving the Thai shrimp industry that aims to achieve 400,000 tons of shrimp production by 2023 and acknowledges Sustainable Fisheries Development Plan in the Mekong River Area 2023 - 2027, which is a plan to support the change in ecosystems in the Mekong River to maintain the sustainability of resources and fisheries of the Mekong communities.
